The Department is responsible for managing financial and other resources in order to ensure accountability and transparency in the utilization of public resources.
The Department performs the following specific functions:
a) Preparing and submitting financial management reports to comply with financial regulations and facilitate informed decision making;
b) Developing and implementing internal controls to enhance transparency and accountability in the utilisation of financial and material resources
c) Maintaining expenditure and commitment ledgers to ensure that public funds are appropriately utilised;
d) Collecting and accounting for Government revenues to safeguard public resources and support the budget;
e) Accounting for assets to safeguard public property;
f) reparing and submitting annual audited accounts to facilitate decision making;
g) Managing risks to mitigate losses;
h) Payroll Management;
i) Cash Management; and
j) Undertaking budgetary Control to prevent budget over-runs and misapplication of funds.
